Huck Boyd National Institute
for Rural Development

On December 15, 1989, the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development was born.

On that day, the creation of the Institute was announced jointly by Kansas State University, the Huck Boyd Foundation, and the Kansas Department of Commerce.

On April 2, 1990, the Institute opened its doors on the KSU campus in Manhattan. The Institute is funded by the State of Kansas through KSU, with additional support from the Huck Boyd Foundation -- a combination that is unique in the nation. As we hoped, the unique structure of the Institute has attracted national attention.
