A New Community Development Model

Phillips County Community Development

A New Model for the State of Kansas
with support from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation

In 2006 we are engaging in an exciting, innovative model for community development for Phillips County. The Hansen Foundation is making it possible to partner with university resources in a targeted outreach to the county. The outcomes of this project for Phillips County will include a more engaged citizenry, including all ages from youth through senior citizens; a more unified, county-wide community with shared goals and objectives across a comprehensive set of community dimensions; a strengthened economy with successful entrepreneurs creating wealth in the private sector; a community-based plan for successful and sustainable community development; and visionary plans and action steps for the future.

On March 28, 2006, a kickoff meeting at the Huck Boyd Center was conducted to begin the process.
