Volunteer Opportunities in the Gardens

Nearly 40 million Americans
perform billions of dollars worth of volunteer work each year. Several
hours a week to thousands of charitable projects. Everyone benefits from
services performed by volunteers.
By giving their support,
volunteers gain feelings of pride and satisfaction as well as opportunities
for making new friends and gaining new skills.

Volunteer Opportunities with the
Kansas State University Gardens
Gardening
Assist with seasonal planting, trimming, deadheading
flowers and other general garden upkeep.
Signage
Assist in the production and replacement of garden
identification labels.
Visitors Information Center
Greet visitors and assist with mailings and other
clerical support.
Gift Shop
Staff gift shop, help visitors in making
selections, and sell gift shop items and Garden Memberships.
Special Events
Assist in fun special events that will be held
throughout the year.
Conservatory/Butterfly Exhibit
Greet guests visiting the Butterfly Exhibit, provide
information, and answer questions about the butterflies. Special
training is provided.
Tour Guide
Act as a guide for groups wishing to tour the
Gardens. Special training is provided.
Education Programs
Handle registration for education events. Act
as host/hostess with refreshments and assist instructors at workshop seminars.
Speaker's Bureau
Help inform people about the Gardens by giving a
30-minute slide presentation on the Gardens to community groups. Special
training is provided.
Office Assistant
Assist in the typing of letters and web page updates
Publication Production
Assist in the proof reading, mailings, and related
production support.
