Position: Research and Extension Specialist, Nut Crops
(6 tenths Research, 4 tenths Extension)
Responsibilities:
Conduct an original, applied research in the areas of pecan cultural management, cultivar
evaluation, and pecan pest management. Direct the 85 acre Pecan Experiment Field,
near Chetopa, KS. Cooperate with University of Missouri scientists in research projects to
stimulate nut production in black walnut agroforestry systems.
Develop an extension program to deliver pecan and black walnut research results to growers
in Kansas and Missouri. Provide nut growers, in both states, basic nut production
guidelines. In addition, serve Extension agents in Kansas and Missouri as a resource
person for information on all nut crops.
