Kansas Extension Master Gardeners


Who Can Become a Master Gardener?

Anyone with an interest in horticulture can apply for the Extension Master Gardener Program if it is active in your county.  If you want to improve your skills and knowledge and you like to work with people, the Extension Master Gardener Program may be for you.

REQUIREMENTS

yellowballA2A4.gif (967 bytes) You must live in the county in which you will volunteer.

yellowballA2A4.gif (967 bytes) You need to be available for about 40 to 50 hours of daytime training classes your first year.  The number of hours required varies with county.

yellowballA2A4.gif (967 bytes) You need to be available to donate 40 to 50 hours of community horticulture service during the first year.  The number of hours to be donated is equal to the number of hours of training received.

yellowballA2A4.gif (967 bytes) You must have at least a High School Diploma or the equivalent.

yellowballA2A4.gif (967 bytes) You must be able and willing to travel to a training site for all classes.
